CPN Holds the 2026 Information Technology Professionals’ Assembly

CPN convened technology professionals, policymakers, regulators, academics, and industry leaders in Abuja to advance digital resilience and inclusion for a smart economy.

The 2026 Information Technology Professionals’ Assembly was held at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja, from Wednesday, 13 May to Thursday, 14 May 2026. The annual gathering brought together information technology professionals, policymakers, industry leaders, academics, regulators, and stakeholders from the public and private sectors to consider the strategic role of digital technologies in national development.

Digital Resilience and Inclusion for a Smart Economy

The Assembly’s theme, “Digital Resilience and Inclusion for a Smart Economy,” reflected the need for robust digital systems that can withstand emerging challenges while ensuring that every part of society benefits from Nigeria’s digital transformation.

The event was declared open on behalf of the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Alausa, and was attended by chief executives of sister agencies and leaders from across the computing profession.

Keynote perspectives

The Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, Dr Adebowale Adedokun, addressed the role of technology in improving transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public procurement. His presentation highlighted secure digital procurement platforms, data integrity, resilient public-service systems, and stronger collaboration between IT practitioners and government institutions.

The Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy was represented by the Managing Director of NIGCOMSAT, Mrs Nkechi Jane Egerton-Idehen. Her presentation reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to digital infrastructure, broadband access, digital literacy, innovation, cybersecurity, satellite technology, and an inclusive technology ecosystem.

  • Continue professional capacity building in line with global standards and emerging industry needs.

Advancing CPN’s statutory mandate

The Assembly reinforced CPN’s statutory responsibility to regulate and set standards for information technology education and professional practice in Nigeria. The discussions and partnerships developed at the event will support a stronger, more inclusive, and globally competitive technology sector.
